Awards

1) ESCEO-IOF YOUNG INVESTIGATOR AWARDS

The ESCEO-IOF Young Investigator Awards are given to young investigators for their contributions in the field of bone and mineral research.
Twenty awards of 1000€ each will be distributed at the WCO-IOF-ESCEO Annual Meeting.

Requirements:
  • To be born after January 1, 1980
  • To be co-author of at least two abstracts submitted to the WCO-IOF-ESCEO 2021 Congress
  • To be connected on the platform during the congress dates (this will be verified).
Deadline:
  • The application should be completed before June 15, 2021.
  • Abstracts can be submitted until May 26, 2021 on https://www.wco-iof-esceo.org/abstracts
  • Application will not be validated if a copy of the two (or more) submitted abstract and a copy of the passport/ID Card are not provided.
  • Recipients will be selected based on their abstracts by the ESCEO Scientific Advisory Board during the last week of June and notice will be provided no later than the first week of July, 2021.

2) ESCEO-AgNovos Healthcare Young Investigator Award

The WCO-IOF-ESCEO Congress 2021 is tremendously proud to announce you that AgNovos Healthcare will support the Young Investigator Awards.

Value
  • The value of each award will be 2.000 euros.
Requirements
  • To be born after January 1st, 1981.
  • To attend the WCO-IOF-ESCEO Congress 2021
  • To submit an abstract related to bone strength, bone quality, falls risk, primary or secondary fracture prevention, multi-disciplinary post-fracture care or imaging techniques of the proximal femur, through the official website (https://www.wco-iof-esceo.org/) and, before the deadline of May 26, 2021.
  • To be connected on the platform during the congress dates (this will be verified)
  • The applicant to the ESCEO-AgNovos Healthcare Young Investigator Awards must use the following link and fill in the online application form.
  • Awards recipients must be the first or presenting author of the abstract.

All applications must be sent before May 26, 2021

Recipients will be selected based on their abstracts by the ESCEO Scientific Advisory Board during the first week of June and notice will be provided no later than June 20, 2021.

Failure to connect to the virtual platform during the congress will result in the cancellation of the Scholarship (no exception will be granted).

Applications will only be validated after the reception of a confirmation email from the Congress secretariat (no exception will be granted).

3) IOF Skeletal Rare Disease Academy Awards

The IOF Skeletal Rare Disease Academy Awards are presented to young investigators in recognition of research excellence in the field of skeletal rare bone diseases. Five awards of 1000 USD each will be presented for the best abstracts submitted to the virtual WCO-IOF-ESCEO 2021 which provide new insights into the pathogenesis, epidemiology, diagnosis, or management of rare skeletal disorders.

The award will be presented at a virtual ceremony during the WCO-IOF-ESCEO 2021 Congress from August 26-29, 2021 (exact date and time to be confirmed).

Requirements
  • The applicant must be the first author of the abstract and must be 40 years old or younger at the time of submission.
  • Abstracts must be submitted by May 26, 2021 on https://www.wco-iof-esceo.org/abstracts
  • The applicant to the IOF Skeletal Rare Disease Academy Awards must use the following link and fill in the online application form.
Deadlines
  • The application should be completed before June 15, 2021.
  • Abstracts can be submitted until May 26, 2021 on https://www.wco-iof-esceo.org/abstracts

4) IOF President's Award

The International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) President's Award honors IOF members from different regions of the world who have made a significant and unstinting contribution to the advancement of the work of the IOF, through furthering one or more of the mission statements and/or goals of the Foundation. Recipients are selected by the IOF President, with the approval of the IOF Executive Committee.

5) IOF CSA Medal of Achievement

The International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) CSA Medal of Achievement honors individual researchers who have significantly advanced the field of osteoporosis through their original and outstanding scientific contributions. The award underlines important aspects of IOF's mission - to increase understanding and awareness of osteoporosis and to promote medical innovation. The IOF CSA Medal of Achievement is presented every year during the WCO-IOF-ESCEO congress. Candidates are nominated by members of IOF's Committee of Scientific Advisors (CSA) and the winner selected by the Chair of the CSA with the approval of the IOF Executive Committee.

6) IOF Olof Johnell Science Award

The International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) Olof Johnell Science Award, named in honor of the late Professor Olof Johnell is awarded every year during the WCO-IOF-ESCEO congress. The Award honors an individual who has contributed to the field of osteoporosis in a scientific or policy implementation area, worldwide. The candidates will be nominated by IOF members and the winner chosen by the IOF Board.

7) IOF Committee of National Societies Award

The International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) Committee of National Societies Medal honors an individual who has made an important contribution to IOFs Committee of National Societies (CNS) through active participation in CNS activities and by expanding IOF's message and outreach in his/her country. An IOF Committee selects the winner, with the approval of the IOF Executive Committee.

8) ESCEO-IOF Pierre Meunier Young Scientist Award

The "ESCEO-IOF Pierre Meunier Young Scientist Award" is intended to reward the work of a young researcher, who has already demonstrated his/her scientific merits without having yet reached a prominent academic position.
Numerous awards are dedicated to young promising scientists and other honor the "Masters and Mentors" for their overall work. Nevertheless, there is in between a gap, in the recognition of those who represent the next generation of leaders.

9) 2021 ESCEO Medal of Excellence

The "ESCEO Medal of Excellence" is a prize intended to honor and reward an outstanding contribution to the field of bone, joint and muscle from an established researcher

10) ESCEO-IOF Herbert Fleisch Medal

The "ESCEO-IOF Herbert Fleisch Medal" is intended to reward a researcher who has made outstanding and innovative contribution in basic or translational science. The award is named in honor of Herbert Fleisch, a renowned researcher whose pioneering work has greatly influenced the understanding of bone and mineral metabolism.
